KABUL, Afghanistan -

The Special Representative of the UN Secretary-General (SRSG) and Head of the Regional Centre for Preventive Diplomacy for Central Asia (UNRCCA), Ambassador Miroslav Jenča, meets with the Deputy Foreign Minister of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan Mr. Eklil Ahmad Hakimi on 9 May 2010.

On 8-11 May, SRSG Jenča visited Kabul and met with the Deputy Foreign Minister Eklil Ahmad Hakimi, SRSG de Mistura, Head of the UNODC Office, Head of the EU Delegation, several bilateral Ambassadors and discussed planned joint event with the UNAMA on promoting engagement of the CA states in Afghanistan, activities concerning trans-boundary water management, fight against drug trafficking and the implementation of the UN Counter Terrorism Strategy in CA. During the meetings the general political and security situation in the wider region was also discussed.
