UNRCCA HOSTS MINI-DUBLIN GROUP MEETING

On 14 June, UNRCCA hosted a Mini-Dublin Group (informal co-ordination group of like-minded countries on the fight against illicit drugs) meeting in Ashgabat. This was the fifth mini-Dublin Group meeting hosted by the Centre and chaired by the Italian Embassy in Ashgabat. Representatives of law enforcement agencies of Turkmenistan, the diplomatic community as well as UNDP and the OSCE attended the meeting. A representative from Turkmenistan made a keynote presentation providing information about the country’s efforts in the fight against illicit drugs. It was followed by information sharing on activities of other interlocutors in this field with the aim to have more streamlined approaches.

In his opening remarks SRSG Petko Draganov stressed that UNRCCA will continue to provide support to the mini-Dublin Group and other relevant platforms, since the fight against illicit drugs is an important component in the Center’s preventive diplomacy mandate.”
