On 15 October, UNRCCA hosted a mini-Dublin Group (informal co-ordination group of like-minded countries on fight against illicit drugs) meeting in Ashgabat. This was the second mini-Dublin Group meeting hosted by the Centre and chaired by the Italian Embassy in Ashgabat this year. Apart from relevant Embassies the meeting was attended by representatives of law enforcement agencies of Turkmenistan as well as several UN entities and the OSCE. In his opening remarks SRSG Petko Draganov underlined that the UN attaches great importance to the problem of illicit drugs and UNRCCA, with its regional mandate, is well positioned to supplement the efforts of UNODC as well as other entities and formats in the fight against illicit drugs.
