The Third Annual Meeting of Deputy Foreign Ministers of Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan, organized by the United Nations Regional Centre for Preventive Diplomacy for Central Asia (UNRCCA), took place on 31 May 2011 in Ashgabat, Turkmenistan.

On 21-23 May SRSG Jenča visited Kabul to meet with UNAMA leadership and international partners.
During the visit developments related to the stability and security in wider Central Asia region and further cooperation between UNRCCA and UNAMA with due regard to their respective mandates were discussed.

On 16 May, UNRCCA organized the round table discussion presented by Mr. Pekka Haavisto, a Finnish politician and a former special representative of the European Union in Sudan where he participated in the Darfur peace talks.

On 14-16 March, SRSG Jenča traveled to Kazakhstan for a conference and meetings. In Almaty, he took part in a "Regional Conference on Refugee Protection and International Migration in Central Asia", co-organized with UNHCR and IOM. Discussions focused on challenges posed by mixed migration movements in Central Asia and related protection needs.

A workshop aimed at providing support for UN staff members working in Afghanistan is taking place in Ashgabat from 31 January through 10 February 2011. The event is organized by the UN Assistance Mission in Afghanistan (UNAMA) in cooperation with the UN Regional Center for Preventive Diplomacy in Central Asia (UNRCCA) and with support of the Turkmenistan's Government.
