SRSG visits Brussels

BRUSSELS, Belgium --

On 29 September, Mr. Petko Draganov, Special Representative of the UN Secretary General and Head of the UN Regional Center for Preventive Diplomacy for Central Asia (UNRCCA), visited Brussels, and on this occasion met with his EU and OSCE counterparts to discuss recent developments in Central Asia as well as to promote further coordination with these two regional organizations, especially in the field of preventive diplomacy.

The EU was represented by M. Peter Burian, EU Special Representative for Central Asia, while Mr. Marcel Pesko, Director of the Conflict Prevention Centre, represented the OSCE. This consultative Troika meeting was also a good opportunity to explore possible joint initiatives and funding for the various UNRCCA initiatives in the region. During his visit, SRSG Draganov also met with other interlocutors from the EU External Action service as well as NATO colleagues responsible for the region.
