SRSG Jenča visits Kyrgyzstan

BISHKEK, Kyrgyzstan -

As part of regular visits in the region the Special Representative of the UN Secretary-General (SRSG) and Head of the Regional Centre for Preventive Diplomacy for Central Asia (UNRCCA) Ambassador Miroslav Jenča visited Bishkek on 10 October and met with Kyrgyz Minister of Foreign Affairs Kadyrbek Sarbaev.

Broad spectrum of issues including energy supply, role of the International Fund for Saving the Aral Sea (IFAS) and situation in Afghanistan were discussed. Minister Sarbaev particularly underlined importance of the UN in addressing problems related to uranium tailing sites and other environmental challenges.
