ASTANA, Kazakhstan -

The Special Representative of the UN Secretary-General (SRSG) and Head of the Regional Centre for Preventive Diplomacy for Central Asia (UNRCCA) Ambassador Miroslav Jenča visited Kazakhstan on 14-16 October.

During his visit SRSG Jenča met with Kazakhstan's State Secretary and Foreign Minister Kanat Saudabayev, Deputy Chairman of the State Security Committee Lieutenant General Nyrimanov, CARICC Director Lieutenant General Sarsekov, and members of the diplomatic community. Meetings focused on security situation in the region, priorities of Kazakhstan during its OSCE Chairmanship in 2010 and possible joint activities related to climate change and fight against organized crime.
