Visit of SRSG Petko Draganov to Moscow
MOSCOW, Russia -
On 23-24 November, the Special Representative of the UN Secretary-General, Head of the Regional Centre for Preventive Diplomacy for Central Asia (UNRCCA) Petko Draganov travelled to Moscow for meetings with State Secretary-Deputy Foreign Minister Grigory Karasin, Special Envoy of the President for Afghanistan Zamir Kabulov, Deputy Secretary-General of the CSTO Amanjol Jankuliev and Chairman of the Executive Committee – Executive Secretary of the CIS Sergei Lebedev.
During the meetings an exchange of views took place on current developments in Central Asia and topical issues of regional agenda, including various aspects of regional cooperation in the use of trans-boundary natural resources, in countering terrorism, violent extremism, drug-trafficking, and other forms of organized crime.
The parties also discussed prospects for further strengthening bilateral interaction between the UNRCCA, the Russian Federation and regional organizations to ensure stability and security in the region of Central Asia.
