UNRCCA took part at 2015 SPECA Economic Forum in Dushanbe
DUSHANBE, Tajikistan –
On 10 November, the Special Representative of the UN Secretary General (SRSG), Head of the UN Regional Centre for Preventive Diplomacy for Central Asia (UNRCCA), Petko Draganov, took part in the 2015 SPECA Economic Forum on “Supporting the implementation and monitoring of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development in the SPECA region”, organized in Dushanbe (Tajikistan) by UNECE and ESCAP with the support of the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan.
Addressing the conference SRSG underlined strong interrelationship and inter-dependence between security, conflict prevention and sustainable development and noted that sustainable development requires durable peace and stability. He stated that sustainable development policies need to integrate conflict prevention mechanisms such as early warning, risk assessment and the analysis of triggers and drivers of potential conflicts.
