ALMATY, Kazakhstan --

On 21 November, Ambassador Miroslav Jenča, SRSG and Head of UNRCCA, took part in the 2013 Economic Forum of the United Nations Special Programme for the Economies of Central Asia (SPECA) entitled “Inclusive and Sustainable Development Through Regional Cooperation” organized jointly by the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (ESCAP) and the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe (UNECE) in Almaty.

Senior representatives of the SPECA member states as well as different UN entities and other regional organizations discussed challenges related to promoting of the sustainable development concept in the region. In his statement (attached) the SRSG focused on a strong inter-dependence between the principles of conflict prevention, security and sustainable development.
