UNRCCA PREVENTIVE DIPLOMACY ACADEMY STARTED ITS FIFTH ACADEMIC YEAR

ASHGABAT, Turkmenistan

The Preventive Diplomacy Academy of the UN Regional Centre for Preventive Diplomacy for Central Asia has begun the educational process for students of the 2023 academic year.

According to the results of the qualifying competition, 36 participants out of 289 contestants from all countries of Central Asia and Afghanistan were nominated for the training.

Training within the framework of this project includes 37 online seminars in major areas: the structure of the UN and the basics of multilateral cooperation; the basics of preventive diplomacy; Youth, Peace and Security and Women, Peace and Security Agendas, conflict prevention strategy; gender equality; the role of youth in preventing violent extremism; intercultural communication; human rights in the context of peace and security; information security in cyberspace; e-government, UN sustainable development goals as a basis for sustainable development of the countries of Central Asia; effective presentation and communication skills; leadership and public speaking skills, critical thinking skills, etc.

Alumni of the Academy welcomed the new participants of the project and shared how their studies at the Academy influenced their professional, academic and social life.

Traditionally, the training cycle in the 2023 academic year will end with a Dialogue between governments and youth of Central Asian countries as part of the annual meeting of Deputy Foreign Ministers.
