NEW YORK - The Secretary-General extends his congratulations to Mr. Almazbek Atambaev upon his inauguration as President of the Kyrgyz Republic. He encourages the new leadership of the country to continue pursuing a policy of national dialogue and reconciliation. The Secretary-General wishes to assure the government and people of Kyrgyzstan of the continued support of the United Nations.

The Secretary-General commends former President Roza Otunbaeva for her important role over the last 18 months in promoting a stable and democratic Kyrgyzstan.
