Seminar "Mutually Acceptable Mechanism on Integrated Use of Water Resources in Central Asia through Applying Scenario Approach"

ASHGABAT, Turkmenistan –

On 19-20 November, a two-day seminar entitled "Mutually acceptable mechanism on integrated use of water resources in Central Asia through applying a scenario approach" took place in Ashgabat, Turkmenistan.

The meeting was organized by the UN Regional Centre for Preventive Diplomacy for Central Asia (UNRCCA), the Food and Agriculture Organization of the UN (FAO) and the Executive Committee of the International Fund for saving Aral Sea (IFAS). Among the participants were experts from Central Asian states and Afghanistan, as well as representatives of the UN agencies and regional organizations.

The seminar took place in the framework of project aimed at conducting a thorough analysis of the interdependence of water, energy and agriculture factors in the Aral Sea basin through the use of the scenario approach.

The meeting has completed the process of scenario development and gave the opportunity to conduct practical exercises for using the acquired skills.
