BRUSSELS, Belgium -

On 12-13 November, Special Representative of the UN Secretary-General, Head of the Regional Centre for Preventive Diplomacy for Central Asia (UNRCCA), Miroslav Jenča, took part in the 9th Annual Worldwide Security Conference on the role of Afghanistan and economic security in the region organized by the international not-for-profit policy organization "EastWest Institute" in Brussels.

The conference focused on drivers and barriers to economic security specifically ones related to energy-water-food nexus.

In his presentation, the SRSG particularly stressed the importance of a long term sustainable solution in transboundary water management in the region. He also indicated that the international community should contribute to building trust among countries, including through concrete projects, information sharing and capacity building.
