On 23 January, Deputy Head of the UN Regional Centre for Preventive Diplomacy for Central Asia (UNRCCA) Philipp Saprykin met with the Acting Director of CARICC (Central Asian Regional Information and Coordination Centre for combating the illicit trafficking of narcotic drugs, psychotropic substances and their precursors), General- Lieutenant Shayakhmetov A.Sh.

During the meeting the sides discussed current drug situation in the Central Asian region, as well as possible prospects of cooperation between the two organizations, including through the involvement of CARICC to participate in future activities of the UN Regional Centre for Preventive Diplomacy in partnership with the UN Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC).
