Visit of SRSG Miroslav Jenča to Moscow
MOSCOW, Russia -
Special Representative of the UN Secretary-General, Head of the Regional Centre for Preventive Diplomacy for Central Asia (UNRCCA), Miroslav Jenča, met with State Secretary-Deputy Foreign Minister of the Russian Federation Grigory Karasin, Chairman of the Executive Committee - Executive Secretary of the CIS Sergei Lebedev, Secretary-General of the CSTO Nikolai Borduzha and Secretary-General of EvrAsEC Tahir Mansurov on 15-16 May in Moscow.
During the meetings an exchange of views took place on topical issues of the regional agenda, including developments in Afghanistan and its possible implications for security in Central Asia as well as on issues related to strengthening regional cooperation in the management of trans-boundary water resources, countering terrorism, extremism, drug-trafficking and organized crime.
The possibility to further strengthen the interaction between UNRCCA, the Russian side, the CIS, the CSTO and EurAsEC aimed at ensuring peace and stability in the region of Central Asia were also discussed.
