ASHGABAT, Turkmenistan

The UN Regional Centre for Preventive Diplomacy for Central Asia (UNRCCA) organized the "Tools of preventive diplomacy in the system of international relations" training seminar on 14 – 16 July for young professional diplomats from Central Asia and Afghanistan. The training seminar was organized to promote the preventive diplomacy in relations between the governments of Central Asia and the capacity building of civil servants.

The participants used the opportunity to upgrade their knowledge about the history of the world conflicts' root causes, the tools and measures of preventive settlement. During the sessions, they also examined the aspects of building confidence between potential conflicting parties, using the skills of preventive diplomacy in peacekeeping operations and peacebuilding.

The participating young diplomats from Central Asia and Afghanistan familiarized themselves with the "Women, Peace and Security" UN Agenda (UN General Assembly Resolution 1325) and the "Youth, Peace and Security" UN Agenda (UN General Assembly Resolution 2250).

The training also contributed to strengthening contacts and cooperation between young diplomats from Central Asia and Afghanistan.
