ASHGABAT, Turkmenistan

In July 2021, the UNRCCA continued to work with the young people from Central Asia and Afghanistan within its Preventive Diplomacy Academy initiative framework.

On 13 July, an online meeting of alumni of the UNRCCA Preventive Diplomacy Academy 2019 and 2020 with 2021 Academy participants from Central Asia and Afghanistan was held to discuss autobiographical books of famous politicians writing about preventive diplomacy and the experience of applying it in modern politics. In the course of the meeting, the participants consolidated the knowledge gained at the previous seminars on Youth, Peace and Security; Prevention of Conflicts and Disagreements; and the UN Peace and Security System.

The second seminar for the Preventive Diplomacy Academy participants was held on 28 July on Leadership and Goal Setting Skills. The participants gained knowledge on the definition of leadership and its types, incentives, and how to define and set goals. In addition, the young people also raised their awareness about activities of the UN Volunteers in the field of peacebuilding, security and the UN Youth Strategy.
