ASHGABAT, Turkmenistan

On 31 July 2021, the UNRCCA "Preventive Diplomacy Academy" project organized a festival dedicated to the first anniversary of the adoption of UN Security Council Resolution 2535 on Youth, Peace and Security, as well as in support of the upcoming International Youth Day 12 August. More than 40 participants from Central Asia and Afghanistan joined the online event. The festival program included video interviews and online discussions on the perception of the importance of UN Security Council Resolution 2535 by the youth of Central Asia and Afghanistan and a Talent Show dedicated to the diverse culture of the region.

In their opening remarks, the representatives of UNRCCA and the Regional Office of UN Volunteers emphasized the crucial role of youth in current and future global peace and security processes. Inclusive youth participation and their unique contribution to the United Nations Volunteers (UNV) program is essential to achieve long-term and sustainable progress.

Speaking to peers from all countries in the region, students and alumni of the UNRCCA Academy of Preventive Diplomacy demonstrated their knowledge of "Youth, Peace and Security" contributing to the UN global campaign #ACTON2535, dedicated to the anniversary of UN Security Council Resolution 2535.
