Statement of the Central Asia Women Leaders Caucus at the Round table “The Role of Global and Regional Platforms and Coalitions in Enhancing Women’s Participation and Leadership in Conflict Prevention and Peacebuilding”

We, the representatives of the Republic of Kazakhstan, the Kyrgyz Republic, the Republic of Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and the Republic of Uzbekistan, with the support of the UN, have created the first Women Leaders Caucus in the history of Central Asia – an informal coalition actively advocating for strengthening the participation and role of women in achieving sustainable development goals and maintaining peace and security in the region.

We reaffirm our commitment to the Global Agenda for Women, Peace and Security, the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, the Decade of Action to Achieve Global Goals and other regulatory frameworks developed under the auspices of the United Nations.

We welcome the steps taken by the leaders of the Central Asian states in recent years to strengthen regional and international cooperation in order to ensure peace, stability and sustainable development in the Central Asian region.

We support a comprehensive dialogue with the aim of reaching long-term solutions to existing contradictions and maintaining sustainable peace and security in the region in accordance with the UN Charter and in the spirit of the centuries-old history of friendship, cultural community and good neighborhood.

We emphasize the important role of women in conflict prevention and resolution and peacebuilding.

We declare that one of the priorities of the Women Leaders Caucus is to develop effective ways to fully realize the creative and peacemaking potential of women throughout Central Asia and promote its use to strengthen peace and stability in the entire region.

We, the members of the Central Asia Women Leaders Caucus, are ready to contribute to building confidence at all levels and in developing long-term measures to maintain peace and security in the region.
