ALMATY, Kazakhstan -

On 26 April, Special Representative of the UN Secretary-General, Head of the Regional Centre for Preventive Diplomacy for Central Asia (UNRCCA), Miroslav Jenča, attended the "Heart of Asia" Ministerial Conference in Almaty.

This event was the second follow-up ministerial meeting of the Istanbul Process. Foreign Ministers and high ranking representatives of the "Heart of Asia" countries adopted the declaration calling for greater confidence, trust and cooperation within the region and endorsing the implementation plans of the six Confidence Building Measures in the following areas: counter-terrorism, counter-narcotics, disaster management, trade, commerce and investment opportunities and regional infrastructure.

UNRCCA is a UN Participating Agency for the Counter Terrorism Confidence Building Measure.
