BISHKEK, Kyrgyz Republic

On 22 February 2024 SRSG Kaha Imnadze visited the Kyrgyz Republic in order to held talks with Ms. Jamilya Isayeva, Vice-Speaker of the Parliament, and Mr. Asein Isaev, First Deputy Foreign Minister. He also met with the members of the UN country team and the representatives of the diplomatic community.

The sides exchanged views on developments in the region and underlined continued positive trends in regional cooperation.  The Kyrgyz counterparts welcomed UNRCCA activities to address transboundary water challenges and to reinforce regional counter-terrorism efforts. Particular attention was paid to the plans under the Women Leaders’ Caucus initiative to involve more women in preventive diplomacy, which is currently chaired by the Kyrgyz Republic. 

SRSG Kaha Imnadze also shared reflections on proceedings of his latest briefing at the UN Security Council and underscored the Council’s support to the UNRCCA activities pursued in partnership with the countries of the region.
