On 2 February, the Special Representative and Head of UNRCCA, Petko Draganov, briefed the Security Council members on the work of the Centre, key developments since his last biannual briefing to the Council on 15 June 2016, and shared his perspectives on key issues, including the rising threat of terrorism and extremism in Central Asia, the regional impact of the situation in Afghanistan, drug-trafficking, trans-boundary water management and ongoing tensions linked to border-related disputes.
