DUSHANBE, Tajikistan -

Miroslav Jenča, Special Representative of the UN Secretary General and Head of the UN Regional Center for Preventive Diplomacy for Central Asia, visited Tajikistan on 9-10 January for meetings with Minister of Foreign Affairs Sirojiddin Aslov, Secretary of the Security Council Abdurahim Kaharov, representatives of civil society and international organizations based in Tajikistan.

During the meetings an exchange of views took place on the current situation and potential developments in Tajikistan and in Central Asia, taking into account the situation in the neighboring Afghanistan, the management of trans-boundary water and energy resources, cooperation in fighting terrorism, extremism, drug-trafficking and organized crime and regional initiatives of UNRCCA.
