Result of Service

Activities to be done by the consultant:
- Prepare a detailed program for the Training course
- Prepare all necessary training materials and make them available to the course participants (PowerPoint presentations on the subject).
- The training materials must be ready/submitted well in advance for endorsement and coordination with UNRCCA
- Execute the training course as moderator and resource person
- A final report on the training results shall be submitted within two (2) weeks after the delivery of training. The content of the report will be subject to comments, changes, and approval by UNRCCA officials.

Expected duration

The training sessions are planned to be conducted on 14 -16 July 2021. The duration of the contract is two weeks including development of the course, online training sessions and reporting.

Duties and Responsibilities

The UN Regional Center for Preventive Diplomacy for Central Asia (UNRCCA) will organize online training seminar for young professional diplomats from Central Asia and Afghanistan. The seminar is organized within the framework of the UNRCCA Preventive Diplomacy Academy project and following the UNRCCA Program of Action for 2021-2025, which defines the promotion of preventive diplomacy in relations between the governments of Central Asia and the capacity building of civil servants as one of the main priorities of the Center.

The topic of the training seminar: "Tools of preventive diplomacy in the system of international relations."

Trainer's Key Objectives:

- inform participants about the history of the world conflicts’ root causes, and about tools and measures of preventive settlement, and measures to build confidence between potential conflicting parties;

- train participants in preventive diplomacy skills used in peacekeeping operations and in peacebuilding;

- familiarize the participants with the "Women, Peace and Security" UN Agenda (UN General Assembly Resolution 1325), and the “Youth, Peace and Security” UN Agenda (UN General Assembly Resolution 2250), and the activities of the UN Peacebuilding Fund.

Delivery of Training: The consultant to guide the participants through three online interactive and highly participatory sessions three hours each, including mini lectures followed by practice in which the participants should have the opportunity to learn and to exercise different techniques and skills. The skills in negotiations and mediation are to be enhanced through the case studies.

Qualifications/special skills

Academic Qualifications: - Advanced Degree in Social Science, Political Science

Experience:
- Extensive experience in delivering training to public officials
- Extensive knowledge of and experience in preventive diplomacy
- Extensive knowledge of and experience in leadership development and training
- Extensive experience in organizational development, public sector reform, and public sector capacity building

Language: - Fluent in English and Russian is an asset.

Honorarium:
Interested applicants may indicate the financial aspects of their services for this initial one-time requirement. A final remuneration amount may be discussed during the final stage of the selection process.
Honorarium for the complete task is in accordance with Level C, ST/AI/2013/4

Training materials and lecturing will be delivered in English with no translation.
