The Ashgabat High Level International Meeting for the states of Central Asia and other countries led to the adoption of a joint Action Plan for Central Asian countries on the implementation of the UN Global Counter-Terrorism Strategy, and a Declaration, endorsed by participants, including 10 other UN Member states and senior UN and EU officials, expressing support for the Action Plan. The joint document is the first example of a region taking concrete steps to address the terrorist threat through a common approach based on the UN Global Counter-Terrorism Strategy and strengthened international partnership.
