VISIT OF SRSG KAHA IMNADZE TO MOSCOW

On 10 October 2023, the Special Representative of the UN Secretary-General, Head of UNRCCA Kaha Imnadze, during his working visit to Moscow, the Russian Federation, held meetings with officials from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation, namely with Deputy Minister Sergey Vershinin, Deputy Minister Mikhail Galuzin, Deputy Minister Aleksandr Pankin, Director of the Third Department of CIS states Alexander Sternik, Director of the Second Asian Department Zamir Kabulov and Director of the Department of International Organizations Petr Ilyichev.
The meetings were focused on exchange of views and updates on the recent developments in Central Asia and the situation in Afghanistan from the peace and security perspectives for Central Asia and the wider region as well as on topical issues of regional agenda, including the ongoing activities of the Regional Centre. The importance of the preventive diplomacy for ensuring peace, security, economic and social development among the Central Asian states was emphasized. A need for a close coordination among all parties concerned for advancing cooperation and for timely reacting to risks and challenges in the region was reaffirmed.
