UNRCCA took part in the Heart of Asia Ministerial Conference in Kabul

KABUL, Afghanistan 

On 13-14 June, Special Representative of the UN Secretary-General, Head of the Regional Centre for Preventive Diplomacy for Central Asia (UNRCCA), Miroslav Jenča, visited Kabul to attend the Heart of Asia Ministerial Conference. The conference was the first follow-up ministerial meeting of the Istanbul Process.

During his stay in Kabul, Ambassador Miroslav Jenča had meetings with the representatives of UNAMA and other UN entities. The Kabul declaration which included confidence building measures in the seven areas: disaster management, counter terrorism, counter narcotics, chambers of commerce, commercial opportunities, regional infrastructure and education had been adopted at the conference.

H.E. Hamid Karzai, President of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan, Delegations from Heart of Asia Countries, Delegations from Supporting Countries and Regional and International Organizations also attended the event. The Conference was co-chaired by H.E. Dr. Zalmai Rassoul, Foreign Minister of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan, and H.E. Ahmet Davutoglu, Foreign Minister of the Republic of Turkey.
