UNRCCA HELD TWO PREVENTIVE DIPLOMACY ACADEMY TRAINING WORKSHOPS ACCOMPLISHING THE 2022 TRAINING PROGRAM

ASHGABAT, Turkmenistan

In November, UNRCCA hosted two Preventive Diplomacy Academy final online seminars concluding the 2022 Training Program.

On 16 November, students of the Academy discussed the Human Rights topic. Youth representatives from Central Asia and Afghanistan upgraded their knowledge about the Declaration of Human Rights, its universality and its intrinsic responsibilities. The UNRCCA Human Rights and Political Affairs Officer made a presentation on the universality of human rights in the field of peace and security.

On 21 November 2022, students of the Academy took part in an online seminar during which they became familiar with the United Nations Disability Inclusion Strategy. The seminar was attended by representatives of the Disability Inclusion Team in the Sustainable Development Unit of the Executive Office of the Secretary-General’s office in New York.

The training seminar participants were informed about the history, prerequisites for its creation and goals of the Disability Inclusion Strategy. The main issue of discussion was the question of how to systematize the work of all strata of the society to implement this strategy instead of sporadic individual projects to help people with disabilities to participate in social life.

The seminar participants also learned about the methodology for assessing the integration of persons with disabilities and the legal framework for the work of state bodies to encourage people with disabilities on equal terms to apply for jobs in the public and private sectors.
