UNRCCA and FAO organized the follow-up event on the use of a scenario approach
ANKARA, Turkey –
On 11–13 July, the United Nations Regional Centre for Preventive Diplomacy for Central Asia (UNRCCA) and the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) organized a second workshop in the framework of the project "Mutually acceptable mechanism on integrated use of water resources in Central Asia through applying a Scenario Approach" in Ankara, Turkey.
The purpose of the project, which is being implemented in cooperation with the Executive Committee of the International Fund for Saving the Aral Sea (EC-IFAS), is to make a thorough assessment of the water, energy and agriculture nexus in the Aral Sea Basin through the use of the scenario approach. This approach allows analyzing elements of an environment and consequences potential actions might have on or beyond this environment within different scenarios.
During the first expert meeting conducted on 2-4 May 2012 in Ankara, participants examined key issues related to the water-energy-agriculture sectors in the Aral Sea basin. Participants included government officials and selected experts from all five Central Asian States and Afghanistan.
