On 28-29 October, Miroslav Jenča, Special Representative of the UN Secretary General and Head of the UN Regional Center for Preventive Diplomacy for Central Asia (UNRCCA), took part in the international conference “Development of cooperation in the Aral Sea Basin to mitigate consequences of environmental catastrophe” held in Urgench, Uzbekistan.
On this occasion, a video message of the UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon was broadcasted in which he called international donors to actively participate to cope with the consequences of this ecologic catastrophe at the Aral Sea basin. On the margins of the conference SRSG met with the First Deputy Prime Minister of Uzbekistan Rustam Azimov and Chairperson of EC IFAS Shavkat Khamrayev.
