SRSG NATALIA GHERMAN LECTURED ON PREVENTIVE DIPLOMACY AT THE INSTITUTE OF INTERNATIONAL RELATIONS OF THE MINISTRY OF FOREIGN AFFAIRS OF TURKMENISTAN

ASHGABAT, Turkmenistan

On March 13, 2019, SRSG Natalia Gherman held a lecture on preventive diplomacy for students and faculty of the Institute of International Relations of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan.

SRSG Gherman described the relevance of the concept of preventive diplomacy in modern international relations, areas of cooperation of the Regional Centre with the countries of Central Asia and efforts to maintain peace and security in the region. In her speech, the Special Representative also noted the growing dynamics towards strengthening cooperation between the countries of Central Asia and the important role of diplomats in supporting political processes in the region.

This interactive exchange with the students was organized by UNRCCA in cooperation with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan within the mandate of the Centre to offer capacity building trainings for the civil servants and diplomats of Central Asian states in preventive diplomacy.
