On 9 October 2023, in Moscow, the Russian Federation, the Special Representative of the UN Secretary-General, Head of UNRCCA Kaha Imnadze  had a productive meeting with the Deputy Secretary General of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) Samat Ordabaev.

A constructive exchange of views took place on the latest developments taking place in Central Asia, including in view of the situation in Afghanistan as well as on the other topics concerning peace and security in the region.

The sides noted the importance of regular exchanges of views and information on preventive actions to counter risks and threats, as well as on interaction in the information and forecasting sphere.

The parties further discussed existing avenues of cooperation  between the UNRCCA and CSTO as well as other regional organizations to ensure peace and stability in the region of Central Asia, continuing the practice of cross-invitations to thematic events, including in the area of countering terrorism and extremism.
