SRSG Draganov Visits Kyrgyzstan

BISHKEK,  kyrgyzstan

SRSG Petko Draganov visited Kyrgyzstan on 11-12 May. 

He held consultations with Vice-prime-minister Jenish Razakov, deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Dinara Kemelova as well as met with representatives of the diplomatic corps and the UN country team.

During the meeting, the parties discussed the upcoming visit of UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres to Kyrgyzstan and also exchanged views on regional dynamics and current challenges, including international terrorism, religious extremism and the management of common natural resources. 
In this regard, he encouraged Kyrgyzstan engaging regionally on these matters and expressed UNRCCA’s readiness to continue facilitating these discussions through relevant platforms and mechanisms, using preventive diplomacy tools.

The SRSG pointed out positive developments with regard to ongoing process of border delimitation and demarcation in the region as an important contribution to ensuring peace and security in Central Asia. 

Ambassador Draganov also praised the efforts of Kyrgyzstan in pursuing its democratic development and reiterated the UN’s support to Kyrgyzstan’s parliamentary system.
