ASHGABAT, Turkmenistan

On September 13, 2023, participants of the UNRCCA Preventive Diplomacy Academy from Central Asia and Afghanistan took part in an online seminar titled “Principles, approaches and forms of youth involvement in society life.”

The purpose of the event was to raise awareness of young people on the United Nations Youth Strategy and relevant Security Council resolutions 2250 (2015), 2419 (2019), 2535 (2020) aimed at implementing the Youth, Peace and Security agenda.

Empowering young people and ensuring their development and participation in society life is among the way of building a better world. The UN recognizes the important and positive role of young people in sustainable development, preventing crises and promoting peace.

During the seminar, participants were introduced with the principles, approaches and forms of participation of young people in the implementation of projects at the community level, as well as society as a whole. They also shared a vision of how young people can participate in the initiatives to promote human rights, overcome the climate crisis and achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
