UNRCCA LAUNCHED THE ONLINE SERIES OF TRAINING SEMINARS WITHIN THE PREVENTIVE DIPLOMACY ACADEMY

ASHGABAT, Turkmenistan

On May 26, the UN Regional Centre for Preventive Diplomacy for Central Asia launched a new series of training seminars within the framework of the "Academy of Preventive Diplomacy" initiative.

The "Ambassador of Preventive Diplomacy" competition selected for training 36 participants out of 104 contestants from all Central Asian countries and Afghanistan.

Training under this project includes 14 online seminars in the following areas: The basics of preventive diplomacy; Conflict prevention strategies; Gender equality; The role of youth in preventing violent extremism; Intercultural communication; Human rights in the context of peace and security; Information security in cyberspace; The UN Sustainable Development Goals as a basis for sustainable development of the Central Asian countries; Effective presentation and communication skills; Leadership skills, and Public speaking skills.

Welcoming new students, SRSG, the Head of the UNRCCA, Ms. Natalia Gherman, referred to the goals of the Preventive Diplomacy Academy, noting two successful Dialogues between the graduates of the Academy and the Deputy Foreign Ministers of Central Asian countries and Afghanistan in 2019 and 2020.

SRSG Gherman highlighted the importance of promoting Youth, Peace and Security Agenda and mentioned relevant UN General Assembly resolutions acknowledging potential of young people to support positive changes in the world.

The graduates of the Preventive Diplomacy Academy greeted new participants of the project. They shared how the Academy of Preventive Diplomacy influenced their professional, academic, and public life.

2021 training cycle will conclude with the third Dialogue between Governments and Youth of Central Asia and Afghanistan.
