UNRCCA JOINTLY WITH UNCCT-UNOCT AND OSCE CONDUCT ONLINE TRAINING ON CYBERSECURITY

ASHGABAT, Turkmenistan

On 21-23 October, the Central Asian online regional training course “From Cyber-Enabled Crime to Terrorism: Efficient Online Investigations and the Role of Digital Forensics” organized by the UN Regional Centre for Preventive Diplomacy for Central Asia (UNRCCA), the United Nations Counter-Terrorism Center within the United Nations Office of Counter Terrorism (UNCCT- UNOCT) and the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE) took place.

The training course focused on digital forensics, use of open source intelligence for counter-terrorism investigations, identification and handling of digital evidence and requesting digital evidence across borders as well as investigation of terrorism related crimes facilitated by the use of the Darkweb and virtual currencies.

Representatives and experts of UNRCCA, UNCCT-UNOCT, OSCE, the Counter-Terrorism Committee Executive Directorate (CTED) and the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) shared their knowledge and experience with more than 80 professionals from the five Central Asian states.

The training course was organized under the third phase of the joint UNRCCA and UNCCT-UNOCT project “Towards the Implementation of the Joint Plan of Action for the United Nations Global Counter-Terrorism Strategy in Central Asia”.
