On 29 March 2022, SRSG Natalia Gherman, took part in the International Investment Forum “Oil and Gas of Turkmenistan”.

In her keynote address SRSG Gherman highlighted significance of positive dynamics in cooperation between Central Asian States in the fields of energy, transport and environment  for the sustainable peace and security in the region. Addressing challenges related to climate change, she commended the countries of Central Asia for stepping up joint efforts in implementation of Paris Agreement, with particular focus on finding clean and efficient technological solutions and improving environmental performance. SRSG  stressed importance of adopting joint regional approach on the entire spectrum of issues pertaining to climate change mitigation, adaptation and finance.

Discussions focused on challenges to the regional energy security and the role of private sector and  international financial institutions in supporting climate action and sustainable development in Central Asia.

The high-level event brought together representatives of governments, international organizations, international financial institutions as well as CEOs and top managers of energy companies operating in the region.
