On 11-13 June 2014, Miroslav Jenča, Special Representative of the UN Secretary General (SRSG) and Head of the UN Regional Center for Preventive Diplomacy for Central Asia (UNRCCA), visited Beijing and hold talks with Deputy Foreign Minister of China, Mr. Cheng Guoping, Secretary-General of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) Mr. Dmitri Mezentsev and other senior officials.

During the meetings the sides exchanged views on the developments and trends in Central Asia, as well as discussed the current interaction and possible future support for the Centre’s activities. Particular attention was paid to the fight against terrorism and extremism, the trans-boundary water management and the promotion of economic cooperation. Discussions also focused on the role of the SCO and its collaboration with UNRCCA in strengthening cooperation and security in the region.
