On 26 May in Dushanbe, SRSG for Central Asia and Head of UNRCCA Kaha Imnadze participated in the 4th International High-Level Conference on the International Decade for Action "Water for Sustainable Development" 2018-2028”.
In his address, SRSG Imnadze emphasized the importance of regional dialogue and trustful cooperation and partnership in addressing climate change risks and equitable use of the shared water resources in Central Asia. He noted UNRCCA’s work in creating conditions for long-term and mutually beneficial regional arrangements on water, energy and environment, supporting the elaboration of a new water platform to supplement the existing mechanisms and provide a better cohesion, and to this end, increased cooperation with the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation.
SRSG Kaha Imnadze thanked the Government of Tajikistan, for hosting the Conference, which is called to significantly contribute to regional peace and stability through addressing water for sustainable development.
