On 23 September, UNRCCA held an online session for the Preventive Diplomacy Academy (PDA) Cohort 2026, dedicated to the work of CMI – Martti Ahtisaari Peace Foundation and the use of digital tools in mediation. The session featured Ms. Lucile Bardin, a conflict resolution and dialogue expert from CMI.
The session introduced PDA participants to CMI’s approach to supporting dialogue and peaceful conflict resolution. Ms. Bardin presented the organization’s work and shared insights into mediation practice, connecting it to the Academy’s broader focus on preventive diplomacy. A particular focus was the role of digital tools in supporting mediation and dialogue. The lecture offered participants an opportunity to consider how technology can assist communication and engagement in peace efforts, and how these tools relate to the work of mediators.
By bringing participants into contact with practitioners from organizations such as CMI, the PDA connects learning on conflict prevention with professional experience. UNRCCA continues to support the cohort in developing the knowledge and skills needed to contribute to dialogue and peacebuilding across the region.
