The SRSG exchanged views with interlocutors on recent regional developments, underscoring the importance of coordinated efforts to advance peacebuilding, and regional cooperation. He reaffirmed UNRCCA’s commitment to supporting dialogue, confidence-building, and collaborative approaches among the Central Asian states in addressing common regional challenges.

The discussions particularly focused on women and youth engagement in preventive diplomacy, and opportunities arising from Kyrgyzstan’s election as a non-permanent member of the UN Security Council for the 2027–2028 term and welcomed the country’s growing contribution to regional and international cooperation.

SRSG Imnadze also welcomed the adoption by the UN General Assembly “Peaceful Resolution of Border Disputes,” initiated by Kyrgyzstan and supported by Tajikistan, and Uzbekistan. In this context, he discussed ongoing preparations for the forthcoming trilateral Young Peacebuilders Cross-Border Initiative, which will bring together youth from border communities of the three countries, as well as opportunities for future regional forums aimed at fostering trust, strengthening cross-border cooperation, and enhancing people-to-people contacts throughout the Fergana Valley.
