Workshop “Transboundary Water Resources in Central Asia: the State of Play”

ALMATY, Kazakhstan 

A workshop on “Trans-boundary Water Resources in the Region of Central Asia: The State of Play” was organized on 12-13 September 2016 in Almaty, the Republic of Kazakhstan, by the United Nations Regional Center for Preventive Diplomacy for Central Asia (UNRCCA) with the support of the US Government.

The two-day event was attended by the representatives of the relevant ministries and state agencies of the Central Asian countries, representatives of UN entities and diplomatic missions based in Kazakhstan, regional organizations and international experts, involved in the promotion of the regional dialogue on trans-boundary water resources management.

Participants were provided an interactive training course on the development of mutually beneficial cooperation on the trans-boundary water resources management in Central Asia. They also held an in-depth discussion on the application of legal instruments governing the joint and sustainable exploitation of trans-boundary watercourses.
