Ashgabat, TURKMENISTAN

On 14 August, Kaha Imnadze, Special Representative of the UN Secretary-General for Central Asia, Head of the UNRCCA, met with H. E. Serdar Berdimuhamedov, President of Turkmenistan, and H. E. Rashid Meredov, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan.

The President of Turkmenistan underlined the leading role of the United Nations at the global and regional levels. He expressed full support to the efforts of UNRCCA in building trust and promoting preventing diplomacy approach in Central Asia. 

The sides further discussed the UNRCCA priority areas of engagement related to climate change, transboundary water management, preventing extremism and countering terrorism, as well as promoting the Women, Peace and Security and the Youth, Peace and Security agendas.

SRSG Kaha Imnadze stressed that UNRCCA would continue to contribute to regional stability and prosperity, based on the close cooperation developed with Turkmenistan and other Central Asian states over the past fifteen years.
