TASHKENT, Uzbekistan –

On 26 February, Miroslav Jenča, Special Representative of the UN Secretary General and Head of the UN Regional Center for Preventive Diplomacy for Central Asia, during his visit to Tashkent, held a meeting with Shavkat Khamraev, Chairman of the Executive Committee of the International Fund for Aral Sea (EC IFAS) and members of the Executive Committee.

Discussions focused on topical issues of the interaction among the EC IFAS and UN, on the basis of the MoU, in the implementation of projects under the Aral Sea Basin Program (ASBP) -3 and the mobilization of donor support.

Environmental aspect related to the rational use of trans-boundary water resources in Central Asia and addressing the consequences of the desiccation of the Aral Sea.
