On 9 October 2023, the Special Representative of the UN Secretary-General, Head of UNRCCA Kaha Imnadze  met with the Secretary General of the Commonwealth of Independent States Sergey Lebedev in Moscow, the Russian Federation.

During the meeting, the sides discussed issues of mutual interest, including cooperation in addressing topical issues of the regional agenda  in Central Asia. They also exchanged views on developments in the region, including through the prism of the situation in Afghanistan.

SRSG Imnadze briefed his counterparts on the UNRCCA’s activities in the region both past and ongoing.

The two sides underscored the positive experience of maintaining close cooperation, including the established practice of cross-invitations to the regional events, and regular exchanges.
