ASHGABAT, Turkmenistan
In a initiative aligned with the UNRCCA’s commitment to enhancing diplomatic skills of the young people in Central Asia, the UNRCCA hosted an online lecture led by Mr Juan Belikow, an expert in public policy, governance, and security, on the importance of public speaking.
With over three decades of experience, holder of PhD Juan Belikow shared valuable insights into the intricacies of effective public speaking, highlighting its vital role in shaping diplomatic discourse and fostering international cooperation. The lecture addressed key tasks and challenges inherent in public communication and provided pragmatic strategies to enhance preparation for public engagements.
Participants were afforded the opportunity to engage in practical exercises aimed at refining their presentation skills, equipping them with essential tools to articulate their ideas with clarity and confidence. Mr. Belikow emphasized that adept public speaking is indispensable for future diplomats and political scientists, empowering them to convey critical messages, cultivate trust, and forge strategic partnerships. Such skills are pivotal in facilitating negotiations, defending positions, and adapting communication styles to diverse contexts.
Mr Belikow engaged in a dynamic Q&A session, addressing inquiries from the audience and the UNRCCA Preventive Diplomacy Academy (PDA) team. This lecture coincided with the celebration of UN Day, underscoring the relevance of the UN's work in fostering global peace and security. To commemorate the occasion, the UNRCCA team organized an interactive quiz focused on the history and achievements of the United Nations, encouraging students to reflect on the organization's significance in their personal and professional lives.
