Istanbul, 23 February, 2018: On 23 February 2018, the UN Regional Centre for Preventive Diplomacy (UNRCCA) and the UN Office of Counter Terrorism (UNOCT) organized a working level coordination meeting on preventing violent extremism and countering terrorism activities in Central Asia. The meeting was attended by representatives of regional and international organizations and took place in the UNDP regional hub in Istanbul.

Participants, representing the UNDP, UNODC, UNFPA, UN Women, UNESCO, the EU and the OSCE, exchanged concrete information on planned and ongoing activities in this field in the coming year and beyond, and looked at synergies and complementarities of actions in Central Asia. They also agreed to reflect these activities in a mapping document that would be updated on a regular basis.
