"Beginnings" of Central Asian Cooperation over Terror Prevention

ALMATY, Kazakhstan

Central Asia is showing the "beginnings" of cooperation between states over preventing acts of terrorism.

That's the view of Petko Draganov, Head of the UN Regional Centre for Preventive Diplomacy in Central Asia.

He was speaking as regional governments, UN agencies and other organizations gathered in Almaty, Kazakhstan, at the beginning of the week, for a workshop on counter-terrorism, and combating the rise of extremism.

Nargiz Shekinskaya asked him to outline why they had come together.
