On Tuesday, January 13th, the Dinu Patriciu Eurasia Center hosted an off-the-record, small breakfast discussion on Central Asia with Ambassador Miroslav Jenča, Special Representative of the United Nations (UN) Secretary-General and Head of the UN Regional Centre for Preventive Diplomacy for Central Asia, one of the leading experts on the region. The event was introduced and moderated by Atlantic Council's Director of the Eurasian Energy Futures Initiative, David Koranyi.

Ambassador Jenča discussed the political and security situation and both the internal and external risks Central Asia faces today. Issues such as regional cooperation, the influence of China and Russia, and the threat of religious extremism were examined. Amidst great turmoil surrounding Central Asia, both to the north and south, further integration and cooperation among the region is pivotal for its stability. Ambassador Jenča emphasized that there is great potential for economic and diplomatic collaboration in Central Asia, and multilateral structures and dialogue are leading the efforts to ensure a peaceful and secure future for the region.
